I am interested in exploring the relationship between cell types across species in order to understand their evolutionary lineage, and the evolution of novel functionality. Do cell types follow a phylogenetic relationship in a way analogous to animal evolution? If so, what mechanisms facilitate this process, and how do we computationally identify this information from complex gene expression datasets?

Project name: Developing and extending single-cell RNA-seq methods and pipelines, with particular reference to development of marine model animals.

Or

Using a comparative and integrative computational approach to identify cell types, their gene regulatory states, and evolutionary lineages.
